In yoga mythology, the mid-line of the body is infused with power and mystery and becomes the center into which the practice of body, breath, heart, and mind converge. In this workshop, we'll journey from the periphery of the body into our central axis by exploring imagery, myth, anatomy, posture, and breath.
Expect a practice that begins with discussion on the foundations of the mid-line. Our journey will then move gradually from the gross to the subtle as we explore poses that build both strength and openness along the core sheath. Expect a practice that involves both dynamic and restorative elements, and involves classical yoga inversions. We'll utilize props for much of the practice, especially as we journey into the inversions and restorative postures.
Our long session leaves time near the end for both pranayama (breathing practices) and meditation.
Some yoga experience is recommended, although all levels are welcome. (Modifications are available for those not practicing inversions).
