2018 Spring Weekend Yoga Retreat

Practices to Build Resiliency

Life has always offered us great joy and great sorrow - and today's modern world has a unique mix of ingredients that offer us great convenience and great stress. These stressful situations near and far challenge our physical, mental, and emotional health in a myriad of ways.

In the face of these stresses, it is helpful to steep in practices that offer insight, calm, and build resilience. While there are many methods of building resilience, the yoga and meditative traditions offer a unique alchemy to this healing.

Please join us for a weekend yoga retreat that offers space to build on your existing practices of resilience and allows you the opportunity to begin new ones.

In an age of constant speed, nothing could be more exhilarating than going slow. In an age of constant distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention. In an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.
— Pico Iyer

Our weekend of practice will include opportunities to:

  • Cultivate community with other practitioners

  • Share nourishing meals

  • Unplug from media and digital devices

  • Expand strengthening asanas

  • Release into restorative asanas

  • Explore subtle and somatic movements

  • Sit with the waves of the breath

  • Be in nature

  • Set aside work and responsibilities to really rest

  • Nourish your life in ways that will carry back into your day-to-day routine

Classes will offer many elements of the yoga practice in longer sessions designed to dive deep. Asana practice will be paced out so that there are times to challenge and times to soak in and nourish. Expect seated meditation sessions that gradually build in length, and periods of group silence during the weekend.

Please come with a sense of curiosity and willingness to explore. Previous yoga experience is recommended, although all levels are welcome.

There will also be opportunity to eat delicious meals, rest, hike, swim, write, read, and visit with friends.
